๐Ÿ”ญ๐Ÿ›ถCaptain James Cook๐Ÿ›ถ๐Ÿ”ญWALT: I am learning to summarise a text

Hello and Welcome to my blog!

Throughout the week my teacher has been teaching us about "Polynesian Voyagers". In our reading groups we were given different books related to "New Zealand History". My group's book was about "Captain James Cook". The challenge for making this timeline is that it was very hard to find the information.

Here is the timeline I have made using Timeline Maker

๐Ÿ›ถ⛵Polynesian Voyagers/Polynesian Wayfinders⛵๐Ÿ›ถ

๐Ÿ›ถ⛵Polynesian Voyagers/Polynesian Wayfinders⛵๐Ÿ›ถ

These are facts that I have learnt according to the topic “Polynesian Voyagers or Polynesian Wayfinders”.

_____________________________________________________________________

Polynesia is 160 million square kilometres. Polynesia is known to be bigger than Russia.

Early Polynesians eventually settled a vast area of islands spread over 40 million square kilometres of the pacific ocean.

Their voyagers began voyaging around 1500 B.C. when the people who had settled Polynesia first set sail from South East Asia.

Ancient Polynesians used the sun, moon, stars, planets, ocean currents and clouds as guides.

Voyagers became less frequent by around 1300 A.D. as Polynesian societies became more rooted in specific locations.

In a nutshell I learnt...

1:Two waka - Te Aurere and Ngahiraka Mai Tawhiti - sailed to Rapanui (Easter Island).

2:Firstly they went to Tubuai Island then to Mangareva Island and lastly to Rapanui.

3:This all happened 6 years ago in 2012.

4:They are talking about the Polynesians Voyagers.

5:It was the Voyagers dream of the Master Waka Builders.

6:They used Navigators to travel to each island.
