Back at School

Hello Everyone!

So today was the first day back at school after two weeks of holiday. To me it was very refreshing to take a LONG break from school after all that hard work we did!

Coming back to school really excites me about all the new things we are going to do. The things I am looking forward to this term are P.E, music, trips and also going to our new classes for technology. I'm also really excited to learn more about our teacher who is replacing Ms. Aireen because she makes our learning very fun even today. Her name is Mrs. Yandall and she is Samoan, the things I liked about her today was how she introduced some new/fun games to us.

This is what and how I am feeling about term 2!

My Role Model

A role model who inspires me is Tupac Amaru Shakur. He is a famous rapper and also shows caringness and he also shows love while he performs.

Tupac is a famous rapper who raps about the true things in life. He has been committed to rapping for several years. He became a famous rapper after he had made his first album which was “2Pacalypse Now” .An example of how Tupac is a famous rapper is that he raps with good speed knowing when to stop to take a breath. He always has a purpose of what he raps about.By being committed to rapping he has been continually practising his rapping.

Being a caring rapper is also another reason why Tupac is my role model.Tupac has positive caringness for other celebrities he meets or collaborates when making a song. An example of Tupac showing caringness to others is that he always helps others make lyrics for a song.Being a caring rapper is important because it helps you to build positive and caring relationships with others.

Showing love is one BIG reason why Tupac is my role model.Tupac always showed love to other celebrities he collaborated with or hung out with.An example of Tupac showing love to his fans and other celebrities is that he loved them for who they are.Being a loving rapper is important because it helps you be able to communicate with others during anytime.

Last of all, Tupac is my role model because he is a famous rapper that is caring and also a rapper who shows love to everyone. Even though he passed away on the 13 September 1996 I still admire him.

Tuakana Teina Day

WALT: Learning from each other, Learning with each other

AWESOME!!
On Wednesday it was tuakana teina day, tuakana teina means younger to older. Which means that a senior class has to buddy up with a junior class.

Firstly, Ms Fepuleai did the roll then she explained to us how our behaviour should look and sound like. She told us ways of how we were going to help our buddies from Room 3 keep up with our earthquake proof houses.

Secondly, we then had to walk down to Room 3 so we can start working on creating our earthquake proof houses. When we arrived in Room 3 we looked at a slide based on earthquakes, Ms Fepuleai wrote some of the rules we were going to be looking at while we were answering some of Miss Gormly's questions. We watched a video filled with different types of ideas of how we can make our basic house earthquake proof.

Thirdly,  we all went outside so Ms Fepuleai and Miss Gormly can put us into our groups. In my group was Savannah, Cheska, Tasi and myself. Our idea to make our basic house earthquake proof was to use four long rubber bands and nine red furry  bendy sticks ( Pipe Sticks ). After we finished making our basic house earthquake proof we had to go and tie it onto the playground then Miss Gormly tested it.

In Conclusion, “ we had a FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC Time ”.

Chatterbox

WALT: Use your listening skills

Making chatterboxes

Yay Chatterbox !!
On Tuesday morning Room 8 students created chatterboxes to make a fun start to our day.

Firstly, Ms Bracey gave all of us one page each from a magazine so we can be prepared to create our chatterbox. After that Ms Bracey told all of us to hold one corner and fold it so it can be a large triangle, she then she told us to cut off the remaining paper and discard it into the paper bin.

Secondly, Ms Bracey said “ after you’ve completed cutting the remainder unfold the triangle and wait quietly ”. Ms Bracey gave us the next instruction which was to fold four corners to the middle of the square. She then told us to flip over our chatterbox and repeat the same thing we did on the step before we had to flip over our chatterbox.

Thirdly, chatterboxes are used to test people in asking them questions they get. In order to complete making a chatterbox you have to write numbers on it and then write questions on the inside so someone can answer it if they get it.

Lastly, we had to fold the chatterbox in half and then our chatterbox was finally completed YAY!! We played with the chatterbox as if it were a fortune teller.

In Conclusion, “ it was so AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING  !! ”.

Magic Snow

Magic Snow

Incredible magic snow,  on Wednesday morning the students in  Room 8 worked on a science experiment based on creating magic snow.

Firstly, Ms Bracey talked to Room 8 students about history that happened in the past at New World. After Ms Bracey talked about history she showed us a little packet with the logo magic snow on it,  she read the WARNING on the back of the packet written in red so we wouldn’t try to eat the magic snow.  In the packet was a powdery product called polymer, polymer is something some companies use to put in diapers.

Secondly, Ms Bracey gave each table a small transparent plastic cup with one scissor and also one packet of polymer. We used the scissor to cut open the packet of polymer then we poured the polymer into the small transparent plastic cup. We then waited patiently for Ms Bracey to give each table ½ a cup of cold tap water. We were very excited to tip the cold tap water into the polymer.

Lastly, When Ms Bracey gave each table a cup of cold tap water we were finally allowed to pour the water in the polymer. As we tipped the water into the polymer it started to rise up as if it were a puffy ball.

Narrative: Lost in the Forest

Lost in the Forest

There once was a girl named Allison she was a young gorgeous child who lived in a castle.

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Allison she was a young gorgeous child who lived in a castle but wanted to explore what was outside.  So she planned to sneak out one day, she packed some snacks and some drinks to take with her on her journey. After weeks went past the day had come her one and only chance to discover what was missing in her life.

She tipped toed out the door very quietly so her parents wouldn’t hear her because her parents would expect that shes sleeping. She walked around with happiness, but then she got tired as she walked around experiencing what it would be like outside in the wilderness. So she stopped and searched for a comfortable spot to have a nap, when she woke up she had forgotten where she was because as she looked around the place did not look familiar to her. She started to regret going outside and not listening to her parents, she started to worry that she might get kidnapped.

Her parents went to her room and saw that she wasn’t in bed so they searched around the whole castle but she was nowhere to be found, her parents started to worry a lot so they called all their guards to go and search for her. Hours later they found her, her parents felt blessed to be with their one and only child.

Allison learnt about why her parents did not want her to go out in the wilderness.

Falakika - Inflatable

WALT:Describe an Experience

What is a Haier inflatable?

A Haier inflatable is like an obstacle course!

Firstly, you will feel like you are in a cannon because you will get spat out of a washing machine. In Fact it will feel pressuring and challenging for children.

Secondly, you might feel like you are diving into a pool because you will jump into a washing machine. You will feel exhausted because you will be competing with a partner.

 Last of all, thanks Milan.

WALT Using different types of sentences for effect

WALT Using different types of sentences for effect
Read:
A tsunami is a large wave on the ocean, usually caused by an undersea earthquake, a volcanic eruption or coastal landslide. A tsunami can travel hundreds of  miles over the open sea and cause extensive damage when it encounters land.

Think about the different sentence lengths:
The water is only metres away now. I stand frozen on the beach, praying that the ocean will merely tickle my toes with its cooling surf. But it does not. A huge, roaring sea tiger devours me in one ravenous bite, lifts me off my feet and tosses me like a rag doll towards the hotel. I can’t see. I can’t breathe. This is it. I am going to die…
See how the last few sentences are all short, but one after the other. It creates tension and puts the pictures in your mind that the character really is gasping for breathe.
‘But it does not’ - this sentence is blunt, opposing the sentence before it.

Add in punctuation (make sure you use different sentence lengths):
Round and round and round. I’m like an old pair of socks in a giant washing machine. I am thrown against chairs and tables and plant pots and parasols. Thwack! a heavy cocktail glass falls from the bar and strikes me on the head. blood fills my eyes. I cannot see . Frantically I thrash my arms and legs about, trying to reach the palm tree. I can just make out of my left fingertips brush against the tree trunk and I struggle to grab hold of it then I am caught up in the spin cycle again round and round and round I go scraping against walls and steps and sun-beds and broken bottles I cannot possibly survive this.

Start Here: It was the day when I was left home alone I was standing in my room thinking of what I should do then suddenly the wind closed the door.I laughed and said well now open it'.I froze when the door opened up slowly, my heart pounded I was frightened so I called my parents, when I got my phone out I just got a message the message said "I'm busy honey I'll be home late, there's dinner in the fridge" it was from my mum, I heard weird noises then again another message it said " Your Welcome ". I was very scared that I got goosebumps all over my body, I felt a touch from the back of me I turned around and there was no one there I started walking backwards to the corner of the wall and suddenly I bumped into something tall so I turned around again and boo it was a nun I started screaming and tried to run away but it was to fast that it caught me.

Falakika & Stanley - Partner Yoga

On Tuesday, 24th October 2017 room7 done an activity Partner Yoga “ Girls only allowed to buddy with another girl and same to boys ” Explained Miss Ashley. While everyone was getting into buddies me and Stanley just sat there.

Me and Stanley had no partners because we. Were to shy to get into buddies, so Miss Ashley  told me & Kika to go and take photos of the class. While they were doing the activity the kids who done the yoga were in there spots when the first photo came on the tv.

Stanley -I got Miss Ashley’s phone and Kika got the Ipad but her phone wasn’t working so Miss Ashley gave me the other Ipad like Kika did to but mine was a bit bigger, anyways while we were taking  photos of them it was already kind of difficult for them on the first one but  they still carried on and it was really fun to see them laughing and enjoying their time. They kept on shouting “ STANLEY! STANLEY! ”And by the time they already crumbled down to the floor. But they tried to balance properly.

Me & Stanley were enjoying our time taking photos, when it came to the last one Miss Ashley made it very hard. After the last one they still wanted to do a bit more than have P.E after so we did it and then we went outside for P.E, we saw room 8 playing bullrush so Miss Ashley & Miss MOrrison thought it would be nice if we joined room 8 together so we did but some of us didn’t want to play with room 8.It was so hilarious, Everytime they would go to the next photo Miss would always tell us to Inhale & Exhale. Some of them were so flexible and upright like Merielle & Hiria.

Lydia,Hevani,Grace & Edith meticulously got most of my attention because they were boisterous. In P.E the classes together was extended.
