Problem 4:

Dane found this recipe for chilli con carne. He has 525g of mince.

Chilli con carne (2 people)

Ingredients

  • 175 g Mince

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 50 g tomatoes

  • ½ an onion

  • ½ tsp chilli powder

  1. How much of the ingredients will he need so that he can use all of the mince?

  1. How many people can he feed?

Answers:

  1. Times every ingredient by 3:

Mince - 175g x 3 = 525g

Bay Leaf - 1 x 3 = 3

Tomatoes - 50g x 3 = 150g

Onion - ½ x 3 = 1 ½

Chilli Powder - ½ tsp x 3 = 1 ½ tsp

Red Kidney Beans - 120g x 3 = 360g

  1. 6 people - 2p x 3 = 6p
