This week room 7 have been making DLO for hobbies and we got to pick our own hobby from ages ago.

Lost Grandma

Today room 7 was making plays using a narrative but we got pick our own groups in my group was          Hevani,Lydia,Edith,Hiria,Grace & Kika.

Our character was an old lady our setting was she got lost in the middle of nowhere and our problem was that it got dark.

Play:

One day an old lady went out to walk to the famous garden with her two granddaughters her two granddaughters lost her and then she dropped her glasses and she couldn’t see anything she just kept on walking to find her two granddaughters the granddaughters couldn’t find grandma so they called the police and the two policies came and they found grandma and they found her glasses and then they all went back home for a great beautiful night.

The Darkest Deepest Strongest Cave
One early morning there was a man named Jacob and he wanted to go scuba diving with his friends and exactly there was ten of them so when he went scuba diving with his friends they went somewhere deep and somewhere scary where no one has been before.

While they were so deep they saw a scary underwater cave where they kinda got scared but then…... one of Jacob's friend thought he was stronger and not afraid to go inside so he did go inside to prove that he was brave enough to go inside but then DUN DUN DUN  when he was going to go inside the cave he got sucked into the cave and the others tried to save them but then they got sucked inside the cave as well and they didn't know that there was a rock beside the cave that got pushed by the rough water and blocked the exit of the cave and now they got trapped inside the cave but all of them got stuck in the cave as well, the cave was very deep.

But lucky one of Jacob's friends had a waterproof phone that can call anyone so then they called another friend to go on a submarine and go into the deep sea and try to remove the rock from the exit.It took a while and it got dark then the submarine finally found them and since the submarine had a large strong claw  the submarine to the rock out of the way and one of his friends was looking around the cave and found a treasure chest while they were waiting that had heaps of treasure that he shared it with everyone to have some so then they hopped into the submarine and went to the surface of the water and said that they will never go scuba diving again.

WAL: About The History Of Hip Hop

Today room 7 had hip hop for kiwisport and there was a lady named Jasmine she told us the four elements they are Music,Art,Dance & Poetry.For music you need a dj, for art you do graffiti, for poetry you rap/mc and for dance you do breakdancing.Hip Hop was made in America USA New York, it was made in 1973 till now, it was made because the Africans Americans and the Latinos were treated badly so they felt repressed and they wanted to do something the will express them so they invented Hip Hop.Jasmine taught us some social dances they are both called Smurf and Jame Brown.Then at the end of kiwisport we all had to stand in a circle and we all one by one stood in the middle and did something.

Inquiry t2w8 WAL how different colours affect your emotions

Today room 7 were put into groups and one group each would make their fries while they are making their fries the rest of the class would be doing their work.In our groups we had to take a potato each and then go and wash then dry it, after that we got to pick if we wanted to peal the skin of but none wanted to, then after that we had to cut it into equal pieces and then Miss Ashley will give us a bowl or a pan and she'll put oil on then we had to put our equal pieces of potato on it then we had to shake it.We had to pick and salt to put onto our fries then Miss Ashley will take them away and cook.

Recount - Tip Top Factory


Today room 7, room 8, room 6 and room 5 went to the
TIP TOP FACTORY!!
YAY!!!

Room 7 and Room 8 and Room 5 all went to room 6 so we can get put into our groups, when my name was called for my group my group leader was Kordell’s dad, in my group was Kordell,Kika,Hiria and Auckland.In our groups we quietly walked outside the classroom and downstairs then we walked to the bus, In the buses each leader of the groups would call the kids in their groups to recheck if the kids in their groups are in the bus.

Finally we arrived at the tip top factory, all the classes got to play on the park then all the room 8 students would have to go and explore what it looks like in the tip top factory, while room 8 was going to explore the tip top factory the rest of the classes had to go to the waiting room, while we were waiting we were playing games and stuff.Room 8 was coming back then it was our turn to go inside the tip top factory.

A lady came to lead and show us around the tip top factory her name was Pou, outside the tip top factory Pou showed us the old tip top trucks then she showed us the new tip top trucks.She took us inside and she told and showed us how they make the ice cream and the ingredients.

Then it came to the end and we watched a movie and we all got to pick a ice block to eat and we carried on watching the movie until it was finished, then we had to go back to school.


It was a fun trip I hope we go there again.

Hiria & Kika - Should there be more breaks at school

Should kids have more breaks at school
I think that they should have more breaks sometimes but the kids would not be learning nothing and they will have 3 hour of work and 3 hour of breaks.In my opinion i think that kids should not have go grades if they just have more time on breaks and less time on work.In my opinion i think it could be good if they have more times on work instead focus dumb things if could be bad for kids life not knowing nothing it just like not know how to spell apple they should have more of work but sore some breaks so their brains working for learning.

On the other hands sometime people say that they will get better grades but how are they getting good grades if have more time on breaks and less time on work.
For Example

For Example if I was spending time on breaks in my opinion it would bad because my brain would not be working and I might not get good marks and I would be below on my report.

For Example If I could not know how to know how to spell apple and I will low on my report and instead going on work i must go on dumb thing and it not what I could do I could do something better than that.

Making Banana Bread

Today room 7 were cooking banana bread, we were put into groups of 4 in my group was Merielle,Coralee,Hiria and Kika which is me.In each group  one person would go to Miss Ashley and get a bowl with half a banana and a full banana in the bowl then take the bowl to your table and mash it.Then Miss Ashley would call a person from each group to go to her and get a bowl with flower and sugar in it.When they brought it back to the table one person had to mix it and wait for Miss Ashley to bring the butter and pour it in then mix it again.Then you pour the ingredients you mixed onto a pan the gently keep tapping on your banana bread then wait for Miss Liddicoat to come and take your banana bread to cook.

Should Cellphones Be Allowed In School?

 Title: Cell Phones should be allowed in schools.
Introduction:
I think cell phones should be allowed in schools because we can take photos of our learning and put on our blog so the teacher won’t keep getting annoyed by taking photos of our learning for us and I think cell phones should be allowed in schools because when there is an emergency you can call the police and I think cell phones should be allowed in schools because you can use your phone if you don’t have a netbook.

First paragraph:Learning

We think phones should be allowed in school because it helps with communication,learning and it is safe.We could contact our parents, we could use them as netbooks, and teachers won’t need to worry.Cause it’s safe.

WAL how much sugar is in different drinks

This afternoon room 7 were learning about how much sugar is in different kind of drinks.We used a scale to see how much sugar is in drinks.We put a bowl on the scale then we made the needle go back to 0 grams then we started with our first bottle, the first drink we did was E2, in the bottle was 75 grams in the E2, next was Feijoa Frenzy, there was 96 grams of sugar then we did Coca Cola, there was 27 grams, after that we did Fresh Up, there was 98.0 grams.We did Fuze Tea, there was 22 grams, we did V, there was  26.5 grams and then it came to the last bottle water, there was no sugar in water.

On Wednesday morning room 6 came to room 7 to learn about solo taxonomy.Solo taxonomy is prestructural, prestructural means I'm not sure about this object, unistructural , unistructural means I have one idea about this subject, multistructural , multistructural means I have several ideas about this object, relational , relational means I can link my ideas together to see the big picture, extended abstract , extended abstract means I can look at these ideas in a new and different way.

What is a food pyramid;
A food pyramid is a pyramid filled with the types of food you should eat and kind of eat and not eat, room 7 got separated into three groups and in the three groups each group made a food pyramid.In the three groups we were all given a newspaper each, each group had three people to cut out different types of food from the newspaper and the rest of the group were the ones that had to glue on the types of foods.

Duffy show

Today we had duffy assembly.Three people were telling us about operas.

Today we had duffy assembly, three people were talking to us about books their names are Maddison,Philippe and Catherine.Maddison,Philippe and Catherine, they are operas, operas are people that act in a play but they just sing and they don’t talk.They sang two songs to us to as an example, Catherine told us a story that she was once home sick, she called her mum and told her mum she was home sick, her mum said just read a book and you’ll feel better so she read her favourite and she said she felt better and she brave to perform again.

Philippe told us about himself, when they sing together he is the bass and the tenor, the tenor is high and bass is low, one of the songs they sang are american and the way they sing is one person sings first then the next person sings then the last person sings last.They told us the songs they sing are old.

They all told their most embarrassing moments, Maddison’s most embarrassing moment was when she had to sing when she was 9 years old in front of lots of kids, she said when she started singing she suddenly stopped and she froze she started crying.Maddison said she had a grandmother and she was blind and she came to new zealand, she said her grandmother had to learn how to read english with her fingers.When Philippe was about 9 years old he learned how to speak tongan but he didn’t understand english and whenever he went to school he didn’t understand what the teacher was saying but he learnt how to speak english after.

Today we finished making our board games, this my groups board game its called obsta SCHOOL, it is called obsta school because you have to try and get to school so you can win.The other game are called Panmure Monopoly,Tamaki College,Candy land and Raps land.We all got to play our own board games then we got to play with other people's board game.

WALT mark our writing against a rubric

The best basketball game

This morning skateboarding was cancelled so room 7 decided to vs room 8 at line basketball.

Room 7 and room 8 walked outside to the bottom courts, the room 7 boys were talking too much so Miss Ashley decided to put us in lines of boy girl boy girl boy girl, then we all stood up we got ready to run,Miss Morrison called five no one got the basketball inside the hoop, it was round 2,in round 2 someone from room 8 got it in then it was round 3 room 7 got a point.

In round 4 room 7 got another goal next round was round 5 room 7 got a goal again, as we continued some people were cheering some of us were sweaty and tired everyone tried their best and they were humble.

In the last round room 7 got a goal ! WE WON !!!!! YAY!!!!! We got four points, we won because we were humble and we tried our best room 8 got 1 point, as we were congratulating each other some of the room 8 kids were moving their hands away. We are humble winners and gracious losers.

It was a lot of fun, I loved it.
